Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast held a Key Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 24, to welcome three new families to their homes in the Sunshine Coast Village in Wilson Creek. Steven Feschuk from the shíshálh Nation offered a welcome and blessing to the crowd, and congratulatory speeches were given by Sechelt Mayor Darnelda Siegers, Gibsons Mayor Bill Beamish, Lucie McKiernan on behalf of MP Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, and Paul Bishop and Pammila Ruth from School District No. 46. Each family was gifted with a quilt made by the Pender Harbour Piecemakers quilting group before they ceremoniously cut the ribbons to officially open their new homes. As part of the Habitat program, families must complete 500 commitment hours by working on their homes, in the Habitat ReStore or recycling depot or on other Habitat related projects.
