The annual Roberts Creek community clean up is fast approaching and volunteers are needed to do their part. The clean up takes place from April 20 to May 17 and is an opportunity to get the litter out of local ditches and off roadsides. The Roberts Creek Community Association (RCCA), Sunshine Coast Regional District and Pitch-in Canada are sponsoring this project.

"We'll be matching volunteers with as many of our roads as possible and supplying them with garbage bags and garbage tags for curbside pick up of the filled bags," said Elaine Futterman from the RCCA and one of the organizers of the clean up.

Clean up starts on Earth Day, Sunday, April 20, with a booth from noon to 5 p.m. at the mandala at the pier.

"We'll have the map of Roberts Creek there so volunteers can sign up to clean up their neighborhood," said Futterman. "Our goal is to match volunteers with every road and street from the cemetery to the Girl Guide camp. It's true that many hands make light work. With lots of people doing small areas we can accomplish a huge amount."

Anyone wishing to get their name on the map of Roberts Creek can contact Futterman at 604-885-2395, email [email protected], or call Suzy Naylor at 604-740-0963.
