The future of the Stonehurst property and an adjacent town-owned lot is to be voted on by Gibsons Council at its 7 p.m. meeting on May 2.
The public can attend the meeting in person at town hall. It is scheduled to be available for live viewing on the town's YouTube channel.
Third readings of zoning and official community plan amendment bylaws for those properties are slated to be considered. If third reading is approved and the bylaws are adopted at a future meeting, they would permit the 1912 vintage Inglis House on the Stonehurst property to be restored and converted to a six-room inn and bistro. The bylaws would allow that property (529 Gibsons Way) and the upper portion of town Lot 23 on School Road to be redeveloped with a 22-unit residential condominium structure. That project’s proponent, Pacific Ray Developments is proposing to purchase the upper half of Lot 23. The lower portion would be rezoned and retained by the town as a park.
The minutes from the April 25 public hearing regarding the bylaw amendments are included on the council meeting’s agenda. Those indicate the hearing was attended by 75 members of the public.
