The Gowers expected to meet their new baby girl at Christmas time, but she decided to make her debut as the first New Year's baby born on the Coast.

Keeli Gower was born at 5:12 a.m. on Jan. 3 to the delight of her parents Tiffany and Darryl and big sister Taya.

"It's just great," Darryl said of welcoming the new addition.

Keeli was born just four hours after Tiffany reached St. Mary's Hospital. The little bundle of joy weighed in at seven pounds even and measured 20 inches.

Keeli was welcomed by aunts and uncles, grandparents and great-grandparents on the Coast who made time to visit the happy family at their home in Wilson Creek this week.

Three-year-old Taya is looking forward to playing with her new baby sister and even plans to let her play with the new doll house she just got for Christmas, a treasured possession.

"She is a very proud new sister," Tiffany said.

The Gowers would like to thank the excellent nursing staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Dr. Petzold who helped make sure the birth was as easy as possible.

The family plans to spend the next few weeks getting into a routine with Keeli at home and welcoming many more visitors as family and friends come to take a peek at the first baby born on the Sunshine Coast in 2011.
