First annual Kids Market takes place in Gibsons this Sunday

Youthful makers, bakers, creators and inventors take over Gibsons Public Market, Nov. 3.

Searching for unique, one-of-a-kind gifts from emerging artists or simply getting a jump on holiday shopping?

Look no further than Gibsons Public Market this Sunday, which is hosting the first annual Kids Market, featuring the works of young makers, bakers, creators and inventors between the ages of six to 17.

More than two-dozen, talented young entrepreneurs will be on hand to showcase their original work, ranging in everything from jewellery making to greeting cards, photography to pet rocks. Baby blankets, stickers, key chains, baked goods and more will also be available to purchase. An eight-year-old face painter will also be on hand to show off their skills.

Jane Tchorbadjiysky, event and marketing coordinator for Gibsons Public Market, says she was inspired to organize the event after meeting a young boy named Maitas, who was selling “the cutest handmade stuffed animals.”

“I was thrilled to see a steady stream of vendors applying each day. By the time I closed applications, I had nearly 30 applicants,” she said in an email to Coast Reporter. “I envisioned gathering a good number of vendors to fill the atrium floor.”

The event is takes place in the market’s Atrium and Coastal Room, Sunday Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  You can find a list of vendors on the market’s website.
