One man died in a single-vehicle accident in the Ruby Lake area of the Sunshine Coast Sunday evening.
The vehicle was travelling southbound on Highway 101 near Ruby Lake when it went down an embankment, said a Sept. 3 press release.
BC Emergency Health Services said it received a call for service at 8:05 p.m. and that it deployed two ground ambulances with primary care paramedics and an air ambulance with critical care paramedics.
Emergency personnel were required to extract the driver from the vehicle, who was pronounced dead on the scene, the RCMP release stated.
The incident closed the highway in the Dan Bosch Park area, according to an RCMP Facebook post Sunday evening.
The press release clarifies this was the only vehicle involved and there were no passengers inside.
Cpl. Philip Atoui said the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is still investigating the cause of the incident and that police are requesting anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information to come forward, the reference file is 2024-6688.
