Enforcement teams nabs offenders

Sunshine Coast drivers got a wake-up call recently when the enhanced road safety enforcement initiative (ERSEI) team paid a visit.

Between that team and Sunshine Coast Traffic Services, there were four members dedicated to traffic enforcement on Friday, Oct. 28 and five members dedicated to traffic enforcement on Saturday, Oct. 29.

"The main focus was on impaired driving," said Cpl. Steve Chubey, media relations spokesperson for the Sunshine Coast detachment.

Chubey said on Oct. 28 between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m., there was one impaired driving charge, one, 24-hour driving prohibition related to the impaired charge, one, 30-day administrative driving prohibition, related to the impaired charge, one, 90-day immediate roadside prohibition that included a 30-day automatic impound of a vehicle, three, three-day immediate roadside prohibitions, one drug seizure, 12 Motor Vehicle Act tickets issues and six warnings for Motor Vehicle Act violations.

On Oct. 29 between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m. there were two, 90-day vehicle impounds, two, three-day immediate roadside prohibitions, 15 Motor Vehicle Act tickets issued and 10 warnings for Motor Vehicle Act violations.
