Elections Canada has opened an office in Sechelt as it readies for the Oct. 21 vote.
The office, on the ground floor at 5653 Wharf Ave., will be open seven days a week – from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Elections Canada is reminding voters to ensure they’re registered. You can check and update your voter registration online at: elections.ca/register, at the Elections Canada office, or by phoning 1-800-463-6868.
Electors can register at any time up to Oct. 15. People who miss the deadline will be able to register at their polling station on election day.
The advance voting days have been set for Oct. 11 through Oct. 14. Voters can also cast a ballot at any Elections Canada office or by mail. Applications to vote by mail need be in before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.
All Canadian citizens who will be at least 18 years old on election day are eligible to vote. Proof of identity and address will need to be shown at polling stations.
