Sunshine Coast RCMP say a man is facing charges under the motor vehicle act after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 101 near Curran Road in Halfmoon Bay.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. after the driver lost control of the vehicle, a 2003 GMC Yukon, which rolled into a ditch.

The 37-year-old man, who suffered back injuries, was the only person in the vehicle and Sunshine Coast RCMP said he was under suspension, which is the reason charges are pending.

The highway was shut down for about and hour before reopening to single lane traffic.
