Coast Scene: Sechelt Legion hosts grand opening

After five years of hard work, Sechelt Legion Branch 140 celebrated the grand opening of its new home on Inlet Street last Friday.

The anticipated grand opening of Sechelt Legion Branch 140 took place July 26, with music, prizes, celebratory toasts and much-deserved thanks of appreciation to all involved. A ribbon-cutting ceremony got the festivities started.

The celebration was a culmination of five years of effort to complete renovations of the new building at 5546 Inlet Avenue––and an introduction to a new sustainable business model.

While the Sechelt Legion will always maintain its core goals of supporting veterans and their families, promoting remembrance and supporting the community through charity, its new liquor licence means anyone 19 and older is welcome to attend with or without a membership.

But that’s not all! Minors, accompanied by a parent or guardian, are also invited. It's open between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

This is the Legion's fourth home in its 90-year history in Sechelt.
