Coast Reporter wins big

The Canadian Community Newspaper Association (CCNA) honoured Coast Reporter, the Voice of the Sunshine Coast and your community newspaper, with three awards on Saturday.

The Canadian Community Newspaper Association (CCNA) honoured Coast Reporter, the Voice of the Sunshine Coast and your community newspaper, with three awards on Saturday.

For the second year in a row, Coast Reporter was named Best All-Round Newspaper in Canada in its circulation class of 12,500 to 24,999. Coast Reporter edged out Courtney Comox Valley Record and New Westminster Record for the honour.

Coast Reporter also picked up a silver award for Best Front Page and a bronze award for Best Editorial Page - matching its efforts from last year in both categories.

Publisher Peter Kvarnstrom accepted the awards on behalf of Coast Reporter at the CCNA annual awards ceremony and convention in Banff, Alta.

"The determining factor for Coast Reporter was a consistent flow for the reader through the newspaper sections," said the judge's comments. "General news, arts and sports pages were well identified and made it easy for the reader to interact. In addition, the advertising layout allowed the ads and editorial content to work together rather than competitively."

"On behalf of our community and the staff at Coast Reporter, this is truly an amazing honour," said Kvarnstrom. "To win once was great. To repeat this award truly cements the feeling that we are creating Canada's best community newspaper. "Thanks to our readers, advertisers and staff for their contributions to our paper. Together we share in this honour."
