Last weekend at the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association (BCYCNA) Ma Murray Community Newspaper awards, Coast Reporter was awarded gold for its classified section, recognizing Coast Reporter classifieds as tops in the province.

This award is due to the efforts of Shelly Alleyne, classified sales representative, Heather Till, editorial assistant, and graphic designer Dimitri Shvartsman.

The judges called our section "an outstanding classified section, which works hard on behalf of both reader and advertiser. Well-designed index and creative features demonstrate how well the paper communicates with its readers and advertisers. A classified section to be proud of."

Coast Reporter publisher Peter Kvarnstrom was thrilled with the award.

"This recognition is a proud moment for all of us at Coast Reporter," said Kvarnstrom. "We extend a special thank you to our readers and advertisers who truly make our classified section the most interesting and lively one found anywhere in this province."

Coast Reporter is up for three Canadian Community Newspaper Association (CCNA) awards as well. The CCNA awards will be announced in Ottawa in June.
