The Town of Gibsons is still waiting for a reply from their insurance agency as to the cause of a recent mudslide on Crucil and Hillcrest roads.

"I talked to investigators yesterday and they have got the report for consideration. They have said they will get back to us when they are ready to respond," said Gibsons administrator Bill Beamish.

The town's insurance agency was called to the scene of what Beamish described as a "flash flood" that sent a wall of water and mud down Crucil Road onto Hillcrest Aug. 28.

Residents in the area affected are looking at restoration bills from $20,000 to over $100,000 to fix the damage done by the mudslide.

So far no one is taking responsibility for the incident and the town is waiting to see what their insurance company says before they accept or deny liability.

"This is a significant issue for them [the insurance company] and they want to review the report carefully before they make any decisions," said Beamish.

Beamish hopes to have an answer to bring to council by their next regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Sept. 20.
