Canada votes 2025: Your Sunshine Coast voting guide

Study up on your local candidates! Election day is April 28.

Please note this story will be updated throughout the final days of the 2025 election period. 

Advanced voting started Friday for the 2025 federal election. Opportunities that remain to vote in advance include:

  • Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Monday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

One can also vote at any Elections Canada office anytime before April 22, 6 p.m. (there's one at 5674 Cowrie Street, Sechelt). Or you may vote by mail if you apply before 6 p.m. April 22 (Fill out the form here). 

Coast Reporter was informed that voter registration cards sent to some Sechelt residents mistakenly listed their advanced polling place as Pender Harbour. There is in fact, an advanced polling station at Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre.

Candidates 

There are six candidates running in the 2025 election. We have asked each candidate for their positions on mental health services, affordable housing, climate change, health, small businesses, crime, ferries and reconciliation. Find their answers at the links below.

Where do the candidates stand on the issues? There have been several all-candidates meetings in the riding:

Sunshine Coast Labour Council: Candidates discuss health care, pensions in first Sunshine Coast forum (Key issues discussed: health care, pensions, affordability, job creation.)
