Cadets ready for annual review

Forty-five members of 2963 Seaforth Highlanders Army Cadet Corps will parade in their 28th annual ceremonial review at 1:30 p.m. on June 3 at the Sechelt Legion. The reviewing officer is Honourary Colonel Al Baylis.

Forty-five members of 2963 Seaforth Highlanders Army Cadet Corps will parade in their 28th annual ceremonial review at 1:30 p.m. on June 3 at the Sechelt Legion.

The reviewing officer is Honourary Colonel Al Baylis. The public is invited to view the ceremony, which completes the local training year for the cadets.

The event will include demonstrations planned and organized by the cadets themselves, including four static displays that show the cadets' involvement in the Scotland exchange, adventure program, bush craft, obstacle course and general cadet training.

The cadet unit is commanded by Capt. Wade Fitzgerald assisted by training staff Capt. J. Marshall, Capt. D. Shearsmith, 2nd Lieut. A. Hogg, 2nd Lieut. R. Strong, CI S. Stevens and CI I. Mahar. The cadet parade commander is cadet MWO Cody Stevens. The aim of the cadet organization is to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate an interest in the activities of the Canadian Forces. Youth 12 to 18 years of age may enrol in cadets. The new training year starts Sept. 12 at Sechelt Legion.

The local corps is spon-sored by Sechelt Legion Branch No. 140, Sun-shine Coast Army Cadet Support Association, Army Cadet League of Canada and through partnership with the Canadian Forces.
