With the holidays looming, BC Ferries is preparing for the Christmas passenger deluge by scheduling 167 extra sailings.
Six of those are for the Sunshine Coast:
- Dec 23, 26, 27 at 2:40 p.m. departing from Horseshoe Bay
- Dec 23, 26, 27 at 3:50 p.m. departing from Langdale
The most popular pre-Christmas travel days have historically been Dec. 20 to 23 with traffic moving from Horseshoe Bay to the Sunshine Coast, said a BC Ferries press release. Post-Christmas, Dec. 26 and 27, have seen the most traffic, with the flow of people heading from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay.
Holiday travel tips include booking in advance, arriving early, being prepared for sailing waits if not booked in advance and considering parking options as terminal parking lots fill up quickly at peak periods.
