Sunshine Coast RCMP are warning the public to know of a male on the Sunshine Coast who has attempted to defraud members of the public.

On Feb. 15, a male approached a residence in the Sechelt area identifying himself as working for a phone company. The male told the homeowner they owed several hundred dollars and he was there to collect it. After the male was given the money, he quickly left the area in a white van with black writing on the side. Once the male left, the homeowner contacted her phone provider who advised they do not send people door to door.

RCMP are advising the public not to give money or provide any of your information to anyone you feel may be suspicious or is unable to provide proper identification. You should also contact the business, agency, or charity or your local RCMP office.
