The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), one of the most dynamic and vibrant venues in North America and home to the beloved annual Fair at the PNE, is calling for applications for its 2011 PNE Youth Council.

"This council was a highly interactive part of the PNE team during its inaugural year in 2010," said president and CEO Michael McDaniel in a news release. "The mission of the council is to provide youth with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and to have a voice in the community. As the home of a number of the most popular youth oriented events in British Columbia, including Playland and the Fair at the PNE, incorporating a Youth Council is a valuable resource for our organization."

All Lower Mainland Grade 10 to 12 students (as of September 2011) are eligible to apply. At least two students per grade level will be selected to the council. Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, have some previous volunteer experience, like meeting and working with others, will be highly creative, want to make a difference in the community, and have a desire to learn more about how businesses operate.

The PNE Youth Council will meet monthly, with successful applicants committing to a one-year term. Deadline for applications is June 3. For application and more information visit www.pne.ca/youth.
