Another candidate has stepped forward as a candidate for the Sunshine Coast Regional District's upcoming election Nov. 17.

Donna Shugar has filed her papers for regional director for Roberts Creek. So far, she is the only one who has filed for Roberts Creek. She has been active in developing an official community plan (OCP) for the area since the early 1990s. She has also been a volunteer for schools. Shugar has worked as a social worker, a special-needs teacher, the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre manager, a small business manager, an artist and a photographer.

She sees the work she would be doing at the SCRD as a continuation of the work she already does in the community. The issues she is focusing on are a healthy environment, social responsibility and, specifically, housing. She currently sits as Adrian Belshaw's alternate director at the SCRD.

In Elphinstone, Robert Corlett has confirmed he is running. In West Howe Sound, Bill Hubbs and Lee Turnbull are running. The current director for Pender Harbour - Egmont, John Rees, is the only confirmed candidate for the area. In Halfmoon Bay, current director John Marian as well as a new candidate, Garry Nohr, have announced their intentions.
