Election day is fast approaching. On Saturday, Oct. 15, voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots for the 2022 general election. On the lower Sunshine Coast, there are races in the Town of Gibsons, District of Sechelt, one rural race in the Sunshine Coast Regional  District, and the School District 46.

But there are several dates and deadlines to know if you want to cast your vote early or by mail.

Vote by mail

For the first time, mail ballot voting is now available to all eligible voters, but electors have to request their package before 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 13. Complete mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer before 8 p.m. on election day (Oct. 15).

People are eligible to vote by mail if they are qualified and registered as a resident elector or registered as a non-resident property elector.
