A leg-up for sustainable farming on the Coast

On Nov. 5, One Straw Society hosts a sustainable micro-farming forum in Roberts Creek.

On Nov. 5, One Straw Society hosts a sustainable micro-farming forum in Roberts Creek. From talks on improving soil and harvesting methods to marketing tips and small farm bookkeeping, this one-day intensive offers education and networking for interested growers who wish to improve their food production skills. Featuring regional speakers from diverse parts of B.C.'s organic farm sector, the goal of the forum is to provide a starting point for networking and an introduction to valuable resources. Through learning who the other growers are and where resources can be found, the micro-farming forum offers new growers an opportunity to feel better equipped and supported, as well as give them a clearer idea of the challenges that face them.

The registration fee for the forum is $110, which includes lunch and dinner. Full or part subsidies are available for existing or potential growers. More information, a schedule of the day's events and registration info can be found at www.ediblelandscapes.ca. Contact Robin Wheeler to register at 604-885-4505 or email [email protected].
