A 31-year-old Sechelt resident was taken to hospital July 6 for treatment of several non-life-threatening stab wounds.
Sunshine Coast RCMP received a 911 report at about 4:45 p.m. that a man had been stabbed "after a loud verbal altercation in the alleyway between Wharf and Inlet Avenue in Sechelt," said an RCMP news release.
The accused is a 30-year-old Sechelt man, who was arrested without incident and charged with assault with a weapon. Sunshine Coast RCMP Cst. Karen Whitby said that she believes he is being released July 12 on strict conditions. Both are known to police but Whitby could not confirm if they actually knew one another, except for passing and living in the same area.
The investigation is ongoing and if anyone witnessed this incident who has not already spoken with police, they are asked to call the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.
