Residents near Arrowhead Park received notices from the Town of Gibsons that 22 hazardous trees are scheduled to be removed.

The work could start by the end of the week and will depend on the contractor’s schedule, Gibsons communications manager Bronwyn Kent told Coast Reporter. She noted that Gibsons Tree Service, the contractor, has been very accommodating by adjusting their schedule on short notice to get the work under way sooner rather than later.

In June, a certified arborist completed a danger tree assessment of Arrowhead Park and identified 22 trees that need to be be immediately removed due to the risk they pose to those using the park as well as adjacent properties, the notice states. Other trees in the park will be monitored by Town staff and a certified arborist.

For safety reasons, Arrowhead Park will be closed only while the work is being done, Kent said. The Aug. 22 notice to neighbouring residents stated the work will be carried out over a series of days in the next couple of weeks.
