Ever wonder what's the deal with young people in B.C.? If so, an exciting and entertaining film festival is coming to the Coast to help answer those questions.
The B.C. South Coast Youth Film Festival plays the Chatelech Theatre on April 28 and at Roberts Creek Elementary School (RCES) on April 30. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m.
The 28 short films of the festival were all produced entirely by youth from the south coast of B.C. At intermissions, youth from the Sunshine Coast will showcase their own Claymation films. The festival's young filmmakers chose subjects that affect youth, such as peer pressure, drugs, skate parks, body image, pollution and more. The films are filled with humour and hope. Attending this film festival is an excellent educational opportunity for fellow young people, parents, teachers and anyone who works with youth.
In addition, there will be Claymation workshops (films made with Play-doh) at Chatelech and at RCES. The workshop in Roberts Creek is open to the public aged 12 to 35, on April 29 at 9 p.m. for a $5 fee. No pre-registration is required. Everyone is encouraged to come, be creative and learn how to make a film.
The youth film festival is an eye-opening event that will inspire and impress everyone who attends. For more information, call 604-740-4946.
