Wendy Hunt honoured at reception

Festival of the Written Arts
FOWA

Wendy Hunt (pictured, right), long-time Festival of the Written Arts (FOWA) director and past president, has stepped down from her position after serving for 25 years on the board.

She was honoured at a reception on April 15 by volunteers at the Festival who reminisced about the early days when Hunt’s dedication helped get the Festival back on its financial feet.

Maureen McBeath told stories of Hunt’s determination and hard work then invited others to speak: long-serving volunteer Len Pakulak, current FOWA president Jean Bennett (pictured, left) and Festival producer Jane Davidson.

In Hunt’s farewell speech she acknowledged the founding mothers of the Festival and the other long-serving directors. She added that she will continue to work on the Festival’s literacy programming.

As a parting gift, she was presented with a lifetime pass to the Festival.
