Imagination Network
The Imagination Network is inviting the community to participate in a Pop-Up Art Studio at the former Boomers restaurant at Sunnycrest Mall, Gibsons, until March 10. The studio will be open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will host a free creative workshop on March 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. “We are inviting everyone to contribute to a community art installation that involves mural paintings, improv screen writing, collage and photography,” said Sandy Buck of Deer Crossing the Art Farm. “These creative activities will be inspired by stories developed by older adults with dementia, utilizing a method called Time Slips [www.timeslips.org].” It offers an elegantly simple revolution in long-term care – a clear shift from “managing behaviours” toward using the arts to engage and build community. The Imagination Network envisions a future when communities celebrate the creative ideas and work of their aging friends, family and neighbours. Learn more by contacting [email protected]
