Do not miss the opportunity to bid on selected works from the personal collection of Gordon Adaskin, this Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Doris Crowston Gallery, in the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt.

The auction starts at 4 p.m. with wine and appetizers.

Adaskin began his career as an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright and went on to become an accomplished and much lauded painter, sculptor and collage artist.

He taught at a number of art schools and colleges across Canada, including as a professor in the faculty of architecture at the University of Manitoba.

His works have been exhibited around the world and currently reside in collections across Canada.

This auction provides a unique opportunity to collect oils, acrylics and watercolours by Adaskin as well as selected works by other artists from his personal collection. These works feature Canadian artists Gordon Smith, Jack Harman, Flemming Jorgensen and Don Li Leger, among others. The collection also includes a signed poster by American Robert Rauschenberg.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Credit Union and the fundraising auction will assist the Sunshine Coast Arts Council to continue to support the artistic and cultural life of the Sunshine Coast.

The collection is currently showing at the Arts Centre Wednesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
