If you wish to be treated to an hour of delightful music followed by delectable refreshments and relaxation with the artists, be there at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.

This Saturday, we welcome the young Rumanian cellist, Cristian Markos of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Markos graduated from the Bucharest Academy in Rumania, going on to further studies in Germany and the U.S. He performs regularly as a soloist and with various orchestras in Europe and North America.

He will be joined by Val Rutter of Gemini, whose recordings are frequently heard on CBC radio. Their first CD was nominated for the best classical album in the West Coast music awards. Rutter tours regularly in Canada and the U.S. and has recently appeared with the Victoria and Edmonton symphonies as the two-piano team with Gemini.

Both artists have prepared a wonderfully eclectic program featuring music by 12 different composers including Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Rachaninov and the famous Swan by Saint Saens. Tickets for $12 are available at Talewind Books, Coast Books and at the door.
