The first in a series of four PechaKucha nights in Sechelt opens this Friday night, June 21, at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre.
PK, as it is called, is storytelling: a rant, a song, an appeal, an explanation, or it could be a memorial, a fable, a spoof. Nine Coasters will present 20 images with only 20 seconds to weave each into their story. The images are automatically projected and wait for no one. Don't miss Donna Shugar's presentation on the Roberts Creek mandala, Mike Tandy's hard-boiled drama, or Paula O'Brien's snappy dresser, to name a few. The 20 x 20 concept was started by Japanese architects in 2003 and has spread to 630 cities and towns around the globe. PK nights have been selling out in Gibsons for the past year and a half. Tonight's event is organized and presented by artists Anna Banana and Paul Clancy. Showtime is 8 with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
