The Sunshine Coast Arts Council is celebrating another successful year of the Young Artists Awards and Exhibition. Though this year presented its fair share of challenges, the creativity of young artists all over the Sunshine Coast was on full display throughout this exhibition.
The exhibition ran from Nov. 25 to Dec. 12 and featured more than 100 works by almost 50 artists in a wide range of mediums including painting, drawing, mixed-media, three-dimensional work, and, for the first time, animation, video, and digital art.
“We are so proud of the young artists in our community, and grateful to our generous sponsors who make this exhibition possible: The Rotary Club of Sechelt, Opus Art Supplies, and the Gibsons School of the Arts,” the Arts Council said in a release.
The Young Artists Awards exhibits work created in local schools and is also open to youth who create art independently.
“We are proud to continue the annual Young Artists Awards which was initiated in 1988. Over the years we have seen our participants in these exhibitions go on to higher education and careers in the arts,” the Arts Council said.
