Their website says: “Sharing the world’s spiritual music, we celebrate, inspire and offer joy and healing.” In a world currently struggling with divisiveness and strife, how great is that? Here comes the Universal Gospel Choir of Vancouver! This multi-faith community choir has been inspiring joy since 1985. It is known for its big sound and exuberant sense of fun.
In their first visit to the Sunshine Coast, expect a rousing concert, which includes all genres of music: old school gospel to current, uplifting pop with songs from around the world.
Presented by the Gibsons United Church, the Choir will appear at the Gibsons Public Market Atrium on Saturday, May 5. They bring a chorus of 40-strong singers and musicians, an open justice-oriented group celebrating “the best of choral music, music that is committed to lifting and inspiring the human spirit.”
Musical director since 2013, Lonnie Delisle has a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Music in vocal performance. He says: “There is no instrument that compares to the human voice, especially when many voices join together with powerful synergy. It’s magic!”
Lonnie will also present a workshop, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Expect a high-octane experience. Participants are invited to return for the evening concert and join in selected presentations. Space is limited.
Both events are at Gibsons Public Market, Saturday, May 5. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are at Laedeli, Strait Music and share-there.com/gibsonsunited.
