Kicking off the second season of Friday Night Live, an intimate, monthly coffee-house style revue in a pub setting, is Ray McNally and friends, Denise Olson, Lalo Breathing Fire, Wooden Nickel (Charlie & Alex) and Kyhah and Robin. FNL starts tonight, Oct. 25, at the Roberts Creek Legion at 8:30 p.m.
Laugh night
This Saturday, Oct. 26 go for a good laugh to the Legion Laugh In with David Roche and friends. Gerry Hills tells funny stories, Kevin Moore channels comic greats and Jenica Vanelino introduction is necessary to this funny woman. That's at the Roberts Creek Legion, at 7:30 p.m. Admission for members is $10, guests $15.
This weekend
Tons of interesting and mostly free activities are on this coming weekend at the Sechelt Arts Festival. The Doghouse Composter concert is tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m. at Rockwood Pavilion and just up the street there's a teen dance, Scream Dream III in the Chatelech Secondary School gym.
Visit the Guitar Day concerts at the Arts Centre and a paint out in Snickett Park on Saturday. The second showcase presentation, Dances on Water, comes to the Raven's Cry Theatre stage on Saturday evening at 8 p.m.

Arbutus Sounds
At 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26the Arbutus Sounds Chorus presents We Are Family at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons. This entertaining musical comedy includes aguest appearance by Fireworks, an award-winning Lower Mainland quartet. Tickets are $20, available at Gaia's Fair Trade and Sechelt's Visitor Centre.

Thrill the World on Saturday at 2 p.m. sharp in Gibsons at Kenmac Auto parking lot. Look for zombies - you can't miss them - all performing their annual dance.
Auditions
Auditions for the third annual Christmas Radio Play are this Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. If you are interested in auditioning, contact David Short at 604-886-8228 or [email protected] for a scheduled time and venue. This year they will be performing Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus, with two performances at the Heritage Playhouse on Saturday, Dec. 14. The play has multiple characters of all ages, but the cast will be kept to a maximum of ten. Two sound effects people (on stage performing a multitude of sounds) are an integral part of the production.
Green film
The Green Films presents the second in the season's film series, Tiny, a story about living small, on Monday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Playhouse.
Could you live in 133 square feet? The film relates one couple's attempt to build a tiny house with no building experience and raises questions about sustainability design and the meaning of the smaller footprint. Tickets are at the door or make reservations at greenfilms.ca.
Fraser show
Local artist Tom Fraser has the honour of being selected to show in the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour exhibition.
In partnership with Friends of Leigh Square the CSPWC of BC will present an exhibition of more than 30 painters on Oct. 24 to Nov. 25. Fraser has been a long-time member of the local Roving Artists and has shown his work in the Arts Centre, Seaside Centre, Gibsons Public Art Gallery and the Silk Purse in West Vancouver.
He is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and his work has been chosen to hang in many of their juried shows. The address is: 1100-2253 Leigh Square Place in Port Coquitlam. The opening reception is this Saturday, Oct. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Two AGMs
The annual general meeting of the Gibsons Public Art Gallery is this Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. All gallery members present will be able to participate in the vote to select new board members.
The AGM of the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts Society is at 4 p.m. next Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt.
Community supporters are encouraged to attend to launch the 41st year for this vibrant Coast organization. This Festival has grown dramatically from its initial two days of sessions with 30 entrants and since 2007 it includes dance performances as well as music. A non-profit society with charitable status, the SCFPA provides awards and scholarships annually to outstanding individuals and groups to encourage their ongoing development as performers. Thanks to the generous support of community donors more than $3,000 was distributed in Festival 2014 awards.
Scary storytelling
Do you like to hear a good story? How about a good scary story? Sunshine Toastmasters spring storytelling event was such a success that Halloween night practically begged them to repeat it. So on Oct. 31 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt, the Coast's best storytellers will be on hand to tell their spookiest, most suspenseful tales. Coasters are invited to come and tell a scary story of your own, if you like. All are welcome and all will be in costume to add to the fun. For more information call Paula Howley at 604-883-3618.

Musician Thora Rogers will be speaking on Soapbox radio CFRO 100.5 FM on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 1 to 2 p.m. with others talking about two projects involving the students of Kwantlen Polytechnic University.One project is called Building Bridges -sharing true life stories of persons with disabilities with the non-disabled communityto better educate and motivate them.The music will be by Coast musicians, including a piano solo written by Carolynn Cordsen and Lois Kidd and performed by Anthony Willmer.
