ST. LOUIS — Canadian defender Kyle Hiebert has signed a new contract with St. Louis City FC that runs through 2026 with a club option for 2027.
Ignored in the 2022 MLS draft despite a stellar collegiate career at Missouri State, Hiebert turned heads in the MLS Next Pro league with St. Louis' reserve side last year.
The 26-year-old from La Salle, Man., signed with the first team in August 2022 and appeared in 31 matches this season across all competitions, playing at centre back and both fullback positions. St. Louis was 15-7-2 in regular-season play when Hiebert was in the starting 11.
“Kyle has grown exponentially since joining this club, which is why this decision was a no-brainer,” St. Louis sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said in a statement Monday. “He continues to excel, both on and off the field, and his positional versatility has been a massive growth in his game.”
Hiebert made his senior debut for Canada in March against Honduras in CONCACAF Nations League play.
