Youth column: Book recommendations from high school students

Is your favourite read among them?

With the New Year upon us, and everyone’s New Year’s resolutions well under way,  I’m sure “reading more” is an important resolution for some people.

However, it can be hard finding the right book.

Not everyone has the time to go to the library to search through many novels with the hopes of finding one that may interest them.

That’s why I decided to ask some high school students what book they recommend:

Melissa, Grade 12, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Cassidy, Grade 12, The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See

Wyatt, Grade 11, Tweak by Nic Sheff

Tysier, Grade 10, Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

Owen, Grade 12, The Name of Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Each one of these books was recommended by a student as one of their all-time favourite novels. They range from young adult through to adult books, as well as from fiction to non-fiction. Maybe one of these recommendations will be the right book for you!
