Ivan Thompson will give an illustrated presentation to the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society (SCNHS) on Feb. 7.
The presentation, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt, will describe a recent visit to Slovenia and Croatia.
The driving trip started from Trieste in NE Italy, and then going through Ljublijana, Lake Bled and a visit to the Julian Alps. A tour of Croatia followed, by visiting, among other areas, the Istrian Peninsula, the UNESCO Heritage Site of Plitvice National Park and ending finally in a a jewel-of-the-trip-visit to the fabulously beautiful walled city of Dubrovnik.
Thompson is a retired chartered accountant who moved to the Sunshine Coast from Vancouver four years ago. He is vitally interested in travel and history. He prefers to travel to areas which are rich in history and which are of current interest.
He is also a keen promoter of adult education and is active in the affairs of Eldercollege (recently renamed ElderU) on the Sunshine Coast.
