Despite torrential rain, shrieks of laughter and corn husk bucket-side chats marked the successful return of a Quebecois harvest tradition after a pandemic hiatus, on Sept. 13.

The épluchette de blé d'Inde (a corn-husking party) at école du Pacifique, put on by the francophone school, French to go and Les Petits du Pacifique was part of an initiative to bring more bilingual events to the Coast community, according to French to go founder Valérie Tremblay.

With a treasure hunt, corn shuck and chat, and other games, the sold-out event brought out families to enjoy some tasty corn.

Clayton’s, Run with Soup, e.b.’s Ice Cream, LoigMorin.com and SCFSC provided contributions to the event.
