The Sunshine Coast Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) hosted a Spring Soiree last month at St. John’s United Church in Davis Bay.
The purpose of the evening was to raise funds for the CFUW Sunshine Coast bursary fund. The bursaries go to mature Sunshine Coast women who wish to take post-secondary courses to upgrade their skills and education.
Thank you to all who participated, from those who planned, made decorations and prepared the food, to the performers, the brave souls who participated in the joke contest, and the generous people who made the silent auction such a success — both those individuals and local businesses who donated the auction items, and those who bid on them.
The Soiree netted approximately $4,500. When combined with donations from other sources, this money enabled CFUW to award nine bursaries, totalling $7,500. CFUW Sunshine Coast appreciates the support of the community, which enables them to award these bursaries.
