Each year the Rotary Club of Sechelt participates in and with community on a number of events. One way the club is engaged is by setting up its barbecue to provide food for those attend various activities. This year, the club has seven planned barbecues, with the first one happening two weeks ago at the Salmon Release Festival, which had a great turnout. This past weekend, on June 2 at Mission Point, Rotary was at the Pride Day Festivities, a great day in spite of the liquid sunshine. These events provide Rotary the opportunity to support the diversity of community while at the same time raising money that the club uses to give back to those in need. From the food bank to youth groups, from assisting those in isolation to cleaning up along the highway, Rotary members seek to make a difference here and around the world.

Of course, the generosity of our community is how it all happens. This season we have the support of Clayton’s, IGA and the Independent along with private citizens who all assist in providing support with food purchases or donations that add to our funding account to help others. And there are all of the people that come out to these events and purchase something to eat. Rotary thanks everyone for your participation. All the events that take place in our community continue to demonstrate that through the understanding of inclusion, diversity and equity. We are Living Together in this wonderful land that has been under the stewardship of the shíshálh from time immemorial. Our next event is Canada Day! Learn more about Rotary, visit secheltrotary.ca.
