Pender Harbour’s 78th celebration of May Day on May 20 drew a huge crowd for western-themed outdoor festivities, centred on the playing field at Madeira Park Elementary School. Included were a kids' fishing derby, open-air market, an amazing variety of food and beverage options, parade, live music, games and the crowning of May Queen Bella McCormick. A tip of the “cowboy” hat to event organizers, volunteers and sponsors for job well done and to Mother Nature for sunny skies and warm temperatures.
