The first meeting of the year for the Pender Harbour Wildlife Society will include the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) Tuesday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m. at the PHSS Food Room.
The evening will begin with a presentation by Nicholas Scapillati from the Grizzly Bear Foundation. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., with the presentation starting at 7 p.m. Refreshments, a raffle and a brief AGM for the PHWS will follow. Everyone is welcome to attend. In previous years, there have been challenges meeting quorum for the AGM. All members are encouraged to participate.
On the topic of bears, the Sunshine Coast Bear Alliance is looking for someone in the Harbour and Egmont areas to take on stewardship with their organization.
Harbourside Friendships, Thursday, Feb. 20 will include a presentation on “Raising the Roof Campaign” a fundraiser for a new roof for the Hall. Gathering begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon for $10 per person.
Come and enjoy the 26th anniversary of the Women’s Connection on Feb. 25 and celebrate a wonderful community of friends. Women’s Connection has been bringing women together for companionship, entertainment, and informative presentations for over a quarter of a century. Please join them as they venture into a new phase of their long-established Harbour organization. Joan and Ted, the cherished duo and exceptionally talented local musicians, longstanding members of the Harbour community will be there to entertain. Their performance will tell stories through song infused with their delightful sense of humour. Refreshments and cake too at intermission. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., presentation at 10 a.m. at the School of Music. $4 drop in Annual membership $15.
Rotary Rocks 50/50 raffle proceeds will go towards the fundraising campaign to send Pender Harbour High School students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp, which will take place March 27 to 30 at Camp Elphinstone in Gibsons. This inspiring program offers a unique combination of workshops and activities aimed at building leadership skills and fostering connections among emerging leaders from the Lower Mainland and the Sunshine Coast.
The club will cover the $550 cost per student to ensure access for all. Registration will be limited to six students, with the possibility of accommodating more if space allows. To purchase tickets Google Rotary Club of Pender Harbour or go to penderharbourrotary.rafflenexus.com.
The Volunteer Income Tax Program will once again be available to those who qualify in Pender Harbour and for the first time in Egmont. March 1 to April 30. Walk in, drop off and by appointment will be available. More details to come.

This year, the 20th Annual PH Blues Festival June 6, 7 and 8, will be a reunion style festival. Confirmed are Brickhouse, Brent Parkin, Gary Comeau, Brandon Isaak, Marcus Mosely, and Joe Rotundo along with the fabulous House Band, The Grand Koolios.
