Pedestrian, driver injured in motorcycle crash on Port Mellon highway: Police report

Also, someone crashed a car while their driver's licence was suspended.

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for the week of April 18 to 25. 

On April 25 at 3:30 p.m. police and paramedics were dispatched to a report of a motorcyclist who had crashed and struck pedestrians before the bike was wedged under a truck in the 2200 block of Port Mellon Hwy. One of the pedestrians suffered a head injury and was transported to Vancouver General Hospital by helicopter. The motorcycle driver suffered injuries to his hand and was transported to Sechelt Hospital. Impaired driving

On April 26, 2022 at 4:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a possibly impaired driver who had driven into a hedge and log outside the post office on Roberts Creek Road in Roberts Creek. The driver was seen spinning his tires and rocking back and forth trying to free his large white cargo van. The driver was given a roadside alcohol screening test which showed two fail results. Driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Suspended driver crashes truck

On April 25 at 3 a.m., police received a report of a pick-up truck that had crashed with one person trapped inside in the 5800 block of Medusa Street in Sechelt. The driver and lone occupant was trapped with their seat belt on. The driver was transported to hospital as a precaution prior to being served an appearance notice for driving while suspended and two notices of indefinite suspensions.

Scam

On April 27, a Sechelt resident was the victim of a common scam after receiving an official looking email from the "Government of Canada" stating that she was due for a $753 tax refund. In the email they provided a form requesting personal bank information, date of birth and mother’s maiden name. After providing some information, the resident realized it was a scam and contacted her bank and the police to report this incident. Theft of tools

On April 20 at 7:30 a.m. police received a report of theft of tools from the 800 block of O'Shea Road in Gibsons. The theft occurred between April 19 at 10 p.m. and April 20 at 7 a.m. and the tools were left in the back of a company truck. Entry was not gained inside the vehicle and doors were locked. Stolen items include a custom STIHL chainsaw with a "Bark box" exhaust and a big aluminium "West Coast" side cover, 2 STIHL chainsaw bar and a Canon chainsaw bar.

Hit and run

On April 23 at 7 p.m. police were notified of a hit and run in the parking lot at the Twenty Two Taphouse located at 5770 Teredo St, Sechelt. The vehicle owner had found his blue Hyundai Elantra with damage to the rear left side and front right side of his vehicle. The Elantra was shifted in an angle in the parking stall from the impact of the collision. Video surveillance from the restaurant showed a black Ford truck with tinted windows and a red gas tank in the bed of the truck drive into the parking lot, attempt a three-point turn, and reversed into the blue Elantra before driving north bound in the parking lot. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the RCMP at 604-885-2266, file 2022-2750.
