Age 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Silverstone Care Facility in Sechelt. She was born in Rouyn, Quebec on January 19, 1933. Joan lived in London, Ontario for many years. From there, she moved to Sechelt, British Columbia on the Sunshine Coast and was a resident for over 20 years. Other family members followed. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting and horticulture. Joan was also a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Sechelt and enjoyed going to weekly Sunday services to pray and see her friends.
Joan is preceded in passing by her husband, David Kent-Rodgman and son, Paul Johnson. She is survived by her grandson, Bryan Johnson, brother Graham Wasnick Sr., sister-in-law Carol Wasnick, nephew Graham Wasnick Jr., and step-children, Kim and Jeff Kent-Rodgman.
The family would like to thank the Shorncliffe Care Facility staff for taking care of Joan during her transitional period. We would also like to thank Dr. Simon Resnick and staff for the medical care he provided for Joan. We would also like to thank Carmen Sombrowski for the assistance she provided Joan. We would also like to thank Melody from Devlin Funeral Home in Gibsons. And finally, we would like to thank her friends that provided her support, in particular the ones at the Bethel Baptist Church in Sechelt.
Joan will be buried at Seaview Cemetery in Gibsons on Tuesday, February 13 at 11:30am, where Pastor Brian will be sending her off.
Thank you Joanie for all the good you did and great times we all spent together! Say hi to David and Paul for us, and we will see you again.
