With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, & great grandmother after a brief illness.
Born in Hitra, Norway to parents Arnold & Agnes Sørmeland, she was the 2nd oldest of 7 children. She became a nurse after finishing school, then met her husband Bjørn, and they raised 2 sons before deciding to immigrate to Canada in 1967. One more son came into the world shortly afterwards. Living in Burnaby for the first 10 year, they decided to make the move to the Sunshine Coast, settling in Sechelt.
Ingrid enjoyed playing bridge, and was a great host whenever they had dinner parties with their close friends. Ingrid is known for her warmth, kindness and generosity. She found great joy when the grandchildren and great grandchildren would visit.
Ingrid is predeceased by her sister Åse, her husband Bjørn, she is survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother, survived by her three sons Arnold (Inger), Tor (April) & Ron, along with 8 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.
Ingrid's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Christianson Village who made her last 5 years a joy. They would also like to thank the fantastic nurses, doctors & staff at the Sechelt Hospital who attended to her in her final days.
