June 1st 1946 - April 22nd 2024
It is with deep sadness that we share that in the early morning of April 22nd, 2024 Eric passed, surrounded by family and under the care of nurses at Christian Village.
Eric was born on June 1st, 1946 and arrived in Canada on August 31st, 1948 on the Empress of Canada ship. He is survived by his daughter Emma, son Michael, daughter-in-law Julia, son in law Cody, sister Eileen, nephew Steven and grandchildren Charlotte, Ava, Lucy and Anna.
Eric lived a colourful life throughout Canada, the USA and England, sometimes in the sunshine and other times in the shadows. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his variety of work as a carpenter, butcher, barber, cook and business owner where he connected quickly with people with his humorous and generous soul.
The last couple of years of his life were filled with laughter while reconnecting with his family and getting to know his grandchildren. As Eric’s Alzheimer’s progressed, we learned many things about him and got to know the sweet, generous and loving soul that he truly was. His unique sense of humour continues to live on through his many jokes and quirky personality traits passed down to his children.
It was apparent how much Eric loved his family, and we are so grateful to have been able to return that love in his final years. We take comfort in knowing that Eric is at peace with his mother (Norah), brother (Don), nephew (Alan) and niece (Alana), along with many friends and his many beloved pets (Missy, Santana and his cats).
He will be remembered at the pop of a corona, sip of a caesar and during those cold winter days where his beloved leather gloves never left his side. We love you and are proud of you Dad. You were a very smart animal and clean man.
