“Hallelujah!” sang the members of the Messiah Choir under the direction of Joy McLeod last weekend at St. John’s United Church. The choir is made up of about 30 members who come from at least four other choirs on the Coast, specifically to learn Handel’s Messiah. They performed Part I last Christmas and decided it was time to learn more about this classic piece of sacred music with text from Bible scriptures that had been composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741. Last Saturday they performed Part II for Lent and Easter along with stellar turns from a small orchestra of professional players. The soloists were excellent: guests Carman Price and Sean Veley, with choir soloists Pamela Wood, Brittany Liska and Sandra Veley.
