Impaired driver collides with pole in Gibsons: Police report

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following:

Impaired Driving

On July 26, witnesses reported a vehicle that had collided with a pole and they believed the driver to be impaired by alcohol in the 800 block of Payne Rd, Gibsons BC. The 70-year-old Gibsons resident provided two breath samples that had a "fail" result and subsequently was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The matter has been referred to RoadSafety BC.

On July 20, at 9:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a possible impaired driver who failed to stop at a stop sign in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons. Police gave a roadside alcohol screening test. After two failed results, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The matter has been referred to RoadSafetyBC.

Found property

On July 26, a Gibsons resident located a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine laying on the ground in the 1500 block of Grandview Road in Gibsons. If this is your machine, please claim it at the Sechelt RCMP detachment. Please reference file 2022-5058.

On July 24, an iPhone 10 and bank card were located in the 1300 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy, Roberts Creek. Owner my claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2022-4985.

On July 26 a hearing aid was found in the parking lot of the Bakery Café located at 5500 Wharf Avenue in Sechelt. The aid can be claimed at the Sechelt RCMP detachment, please reference file 2022-5037.

Theft

On July 21, a blue and grey 18-speed Norco Storm mountain bike was stolen from the bike rack at Capilano College on Inlet Avenue in Sechelt. The lock had been cut and it was last seen at approximately noon on the 21st. File is still under investigation as the cctv video will be reviewed. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RCMP.

On July 25, a suspect stole a fan from the back of a business at 300 block of Glassford in Gibsons. Police file is currently under investigation, pending review of the surveillance video.
