We are planning two free community-wide events in September open to all ages: “Welcome to Our Swiya” presented by hiwus (Chief) Calvin Craigan at the shíshálh Nation Longhouse; and the annual Clifford Smith Memorial Lecture by Dr. Rachel White, UBC, on “Climate Change and Extreme Weather Events” at Chatelech High School, sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Credit Union and SD46.
COVID precautions
We follow B.C. Government orders and guidelines and those adopted by local or Indigenous governments for public venues. Social distancing will be in effect, and we strongly encourage participants to wear masks. In-person classes – ages 55 and up – are socially distanced and all participants must be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination at the first class. If we need to transition to Zoom, you can withdraw from your course and receive a full refund.

Courses for ages 55 and up are: “Technology 101” (free), in collaboration with Sechelt Library. Sunshine Coast ElderCollege is a non-profit society funded solely by course fees. We are all volunteers including our expert presenters, facilitators and administrators.
