Take in a relaxing evening of wonderful local entertainment in a cabaret setting at the waterfront School of Music.

The line-up tonight (Friday) Aug. 8 is Skinny Jimmy our country artist, Ashley Hautala singer songwriter and guitarist and Nikki’s Youth Set vocal jazz group proudly presented by Nikki Webber. Doors open at 7, music starts at 7:30 p.m. Coffee, cold drinks and fresh baking available. Suggested donation at the door is $10

The 10th annual Chamber Music Festival presenting performances by world class musicians at the School of Music is just a week away and very close to being sold out. For ticket information please call 604-989-3995.

While you are at the Legion, enjoy the best Wings on the Coast starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Cheap beer from 11 a.m. Saturday snack on appies, sip a cool drink and be a winner at the meat draw featuring a fabulous bake table and fruit and veggie baskets o’ plenty from 3 to 5 p.m. all in a fun, friendly and lovely air conditioned atmosphere.     

If you haven’t visited the Iris Griffith Nature Centre now is the time. Bring your friends, family and visitors. The Centre is open every day and admission is free. Visit their air conditioned EarthFair Store in downtown Madeira.

The Pender Harbour hiking club is off on nature walks twice a week, Monday and Wednesday mornings. Call 604-883-2930 for all the details.

The PH Seniors Initiative and Harbourside Friendships will enjoy a ‘morning of music’ with Penny Lang this Thursday, Aug. 14 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Hall. Hot lunch for $10 served at noon.

The Harbour Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Labour Day featuring exhibits of the membership’s creations many interpretations of our local natural beauty. The gallery is across from the School of Music close to Millennium Park at the waterfront.
