Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Volunteers, parade entries still sought for Egmont Day

Egmont Day is this Saturday, June 1. From the organizers: “We are still in need of baked goods, volunteers and parade entries. The kids fishing derby is at 8:30 (government dock) parade starts at 11 (parade participants arrive around 10:30, muster at the museum/Skookumchuk trailhead). Lunch is at noon. If you have baked goods to bring, drop off at the cakewalk in the community hall.

The Pender Harbour Library’s “BOOKS ‘N’ BLOOMS” is a garden tour fundraiser on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit six unique gardens, including contemporary drought and heat-resistant gardens on the water, a farm, a challenging garden on a hillside, and a garden of whimsey and delight. Take a car full of friends and have a fun day supporting our library. Tickets available at EarthFair Store, $30 per ticket, includes a map. The Harbour Gallery will be open every Saturday in June, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit this gem located in the historic hilltop site by Millenium Park and Government Dock. All the fine creations are the work of our fantastic local artists. Lovely treasures for sale: art cards, paintings, prints, stained glass, wool paintings to give or keepsakes for yourself.

Sunday, June 2 the Sunshine Coast Community orchestra with Jose Ceron conducting, will grace the stage at the Pender Harbour community Hall at 2:30 p.m. Admission at the door is $20.

The Women’s Connection has enjoyed a highly successful 2023/24 season highlighting a variety of interesting topics, like local artists, community information, musical entertainment and local personalities. To celebrate the end of this wonderful season, the next gathering will be lunch at the Backeddy Pub in Egmont on Tuesday, June 11 at noon. Lunch will be à la carte, no host.
