Table of yard sale items.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week and a great long weekend. Temperatures are creeping up, but our evenings are still a little chilly. May will be upon us soon with the promise of warmer weather, right?

Justine from Fawn’s Road Stand created her first issue of ‘What’s Growin On?’ newsletter last weekend and paper copies were available at her stand as well as at The O Farm at 8070 Redrooffs Road. The newsletter includes various topics, “mostly related to plants, food, the generosity of nature, the passing of the seasons and the lovely Halfmoon Bay community.” Justine believes that a paper copy is more special and after reading it, one could pass it on for others to read, use it as wrapping paper or crumple it up to make a cat toy. In this first issue, Justine included a map of eight road stands in Halfmoon Bay, two of which will be opening soon or recently opened. Mezza Luna Fiori at 7990 Redrooffs Road will offer fresh cut flowers and other delights and The Red Rooff Home Stand at 8963 Redrooffs Road will offer artisan breads and other goodies from Alexis. If you would like to contribute content for the newsletter or have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]. Well done Justine! It looks great!

Since the beginning of 2020, it has been challenging for organizations on the Sunshine Coast to retain and grow members and volunteers. Rotary Sunshine Coast will be hosting the Sunshine Coast Volunteer Fair on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24 at the Seniors Centre in Sechelt from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are 30 volunteer exhibits with representatives from each organization on hand to answer questions and provide information, one of which being our very own Halfmoon Bay Community Association. On Saturday, HBCA president Linda McMahon will provide a 20-minute presentation at 12:30 p.m., which will focus on volunteering with HBCA and information on their upcoming membership drive. After that, Linda will be presenting a cheque for $12,000 to the SCCSS Building Together Project from proceeds of the Auction at the Bay and a cheque for $3,200 to the One Straw Society for subsidized food boxes for Halfmoon Bay residents. Well done HBCA and the generous community! If you’re in Sechelt this weekend, be sure to stop by the seniors centre and check it out. Admission is free! More information can also be found at rotarysunshinecoast.org/sunshine coastvolunteerfair2022.

The Halfmoon Bay Community Garage Sale is almost here, so get ready for some amazing deals and wonderful gently used items. On Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., driveways and roadsides will be busier than usual so please drive safely while traveling through the community and be respectful when parking. There is no map of sale locations but there will be signs along the way. Take your time and let’s hope for some mild weather with no rain. Visit the Halfmoon Bay Community Garage Sale Facebook page as there may be up-to-date information provided closer to the scheduled sale weekend.
